One of the most highly anticipated games will be played tonight featuring the LA Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers. The fact that the two teams are currently leading their respective conferences is definitely making this game seem like an NBA final.
The last
time the two met was on Christmas day where the Cavs defeated the Lakers at their own court. That crucial victory the Cavs got on that day marked the team’s turning point to the unsteady performance they had earlier recorded.
Unlike the last time the two met where the Cavs were considered the under dogs this time the Lakers will step in the Quickens Loan Arena bearing the underdog tag. This by all means does not necessary mean that the Cavs will carry the day.
When the Cavs are playing at their own backyard, they have shown they are very strong team to beat. So far they have lost only thrice and it goes without mentioning that they will not want the Lakers adding themselves to that list.
Although the Lakers are not quite consistent as expected, they are dangerous when underrated. Furthermore they are the defending champions. They are a team that has what it takes to take out the Cavs even in their own arena. Bitter memories of how they lost to the Cavs on Christmas day will act as the best catalyst to settle the score.
The outcome of this game will not decide who will the win the NBA title but it will give the winning team a psychological advantage assuming that they meet in the finals later this year.
The Cavs and Lakers may not share a strong rivalry to rise the temperature of the game a notch higher, all the same the presence of Kobe Bryant and Le Bron James going for each other’s basket will in itself be an intense rivalry for 48 or so minutes.
